Selecting a Chemical Blowing Agent

When using a chemical blowing agent, the foaming gas is generated in the barrel by the chemical reaction.

In order to simulate the microcellular injection molding process, the program uses the weight percentage of the reactant material to calculate the amount of gas generated.

  1. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Process Settings) then click Next until the Microcellular Injection Molding Settings page appears.
  2. Select Chemical blowing agent (CBA) from the Initial gas amount drop down list.
  3. Click Edit value associated with the chemical blowing agent, to open the Initial gas amount dialog.
  4. Enter values for the Weight % of CBA and Foaming gas conversion % of CBA by weight.
  5. Click OK to close the Initial gas amount dialog, and continue editing the rest of the process settings for the analysis.
