Assigning the compression surface property (Midplane)
For an injection-compression analysis on a Midplane model, you can specify the elements of your model that will be compressed by assigning them the compression surface property, as indicated below.
Note: These instructions apply only to a Midplane model and an injection-compression molding process.
Click Select.
Select the elements of the model that you want to compress.
Click (Mesh tab > Properties panel > Assign).
In the Assign Property dialog, click New > Compression surface.
In the Compression Surface dialog, select the required Cross-sectional shape. For a flat shape, enter the thickness of the part in the Thickness box. For every other option, click Edit dimensions... and enter the required information.
Note: The press open distance will be added to the design thickness when you set the Injection-compression process settings.
Select the check box next to Frozen check for compression control if you want the compression to stop if the analysis detects frozen elements.
Click the Mold Properties tab and select the positive and negative-side mold materials, and the cavity/core side assignment.
