Valve gates controllers are assigned to beam elements with the property type Hot gate for all flow solvers. In addition, if you are running a Gas-assisted Injection Molding process, they can be assigned to elements with the property type Overflow well .
Model the feed system, or if there is no feed system, ensure that the hot gate is meshed with a minimum of three elements along its length, and assign the valve gate controller to the hot gate element attached to the part.

Assign to elements.
- Identify all the hot gates that will be controlled by this valve gate controller and select each one, while holding the Ctrl key.
Note: For each hot gate, you must select only on that element that is connected directly to the part.
- When all the elements have been selected, click OK.
- Select the valve gate controller you want to use, by selecting the row in the table that lists it, then click
Select.
Note: Details of each controller are listed in the table.
If you have not yet set up a valve gate controller, you can click the View/Edit button for the default controller listed in the table, edit the properties, and save it with a new name.
