Simulation Job Manager process

Process summary

  1. Perform all model setup tasks in your local workstation.
  2. Launch one or more jobs in the cloud.
  3. The Simulation Job Manager compresses and encrypts the model, and transfers it to the Autodesk secure storage service.
  4. As Autodesk 360 executes the job, it places the results in the Autodesk secure storage service.
  5. As the job progresses, the Simulation Job Manager transfers the results and progress information to the local workstation as they become available.
  6. When the job finishes, the Simulation Job Manager transfers the final results to the local workstation. You can review and visualize your results, and proceed with your design process.

Throughout this process, you can use the Simulation Job Manager to track each step of the simulation.

To run concurrent jobs

The Simulation Job Manager automatically sends multiple jobs to Autodesk 360, and distributes them to the Autodesk storage service. The jobs are then distributed automatically to suitable cloud compute nodes to ensure they are solved concurrently instead of sequentially.

After launching multiple jobs, you can close your product user interface.

To stop a running job

You can use the Simulation Job Manager to immediately stop a job that is running:
  1. Right click on the job thumbnail or job name if the list view is active.
  2. Click Cancel.
  3. Note: This halts the job immediately, and no additional results are transferred to the desktop workstation for visualization. Cloud Credits are refunded when you cancel a job

To retrieve results

At the conclusion of each job, the Simulation Job Manager automatically downloads the simulation results to the local workstation from which the job was launched.

After the Simulation Job Manager has transferred results back to the local workstation, it retains the data until you save the results to your model. Once this occurs, the Simulation Job Manager removes the data from Autodesk storage.
