Plane Cut tool dialog

Use the Plane Cut command to cut visible surface mesh with a plane. Use this tool to cut symmetric parts in half.

To access this panel, click (Mesh tab > Mesh Edit panel > Advanced > Plane Cut).

Widget Explanation
Define A Plane
  • Choose a plane to cut with: choose the direction of the cut (XY, YZ or XZ).
  • A reference point on the plane: Define the position of the cutting plane.
  • Preview: allows you to see the plane along which the cut happens.
Fill and mesh the hole after cut

For Dual Domain mesh types, Plane cut may create holes between the two layers of the mesh. Check the Fill and mesh the hole after cut checkbox to close the mesh between the remaining parts after the cut.

Smooth mesh after cut

Check the Smooth mesh after cut checkbox to remesh the border of the remaining part. When deselected, the affected area may have sharp triangles.

Keep triangles on negative side of axis

Check the Keep triangles on negative side of axis checkbox to remove the triangles on the positive side of the plane.

Note: This function do a purge nodes, deleting all isolated nodes.
