Setting up a Microcellular Core-back Process

The microcellular core-back process is similar to a thermoplastic microcellular injection molding simulation, except that the main foaming starts when the mold opens at the end of the packing phase.

  1. Assign the property Compression element (3D) to the tetrahedral elements of your model.
  2. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Analysis Sequence) and select an analysis sequence which includes Fill+Pack, then click OK.
  3. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Process Settings), then click Next until the Fill + Pack Settings page appears.
  4. Select the Include Core-back (Microcellular) option.
  5. Click Edit data associated with the Include Core-back (Microcellular) option, and enter values for the Core-back open distance, the Core-back opening speed versus distance and the Core-back opening direction.
