Forces and Moments used for Calculation

A structural connection is calculated using forces and moments. To insert forces and moments:

• Use the Automatic values option (available only for the AISC module).

  For the AISC module, the forces and moments can be automatically generated, considering the steel connection should withstand more than the input element. The axial force, shear force and moment values are calculated considering the elastic or plastic capacities of the input section shape and can be controlled from the Settings menu.

• Use the Use load cases option to verify the connection against the forces and moments from:
  • Analysis results (only load combinations from Robot™ Structural Analysis Professional)
  • Forces and moments set in the Member Forces dialog of the analytical element
  • Manually added combinations
