Customize a Stand-Alone Revit Installation

When installing the software on a single computer, you can customize the configuration to suit your needs.

1. Start the Revit installation program and proceed to the Install > Configure Installation page.
2. For the Revit software, do the following:
   1. Click the arrow below the product name to expand the configuration settings.
      
   2. Complete the following items as appropriate:
      • Sub-Components: (does not apply to Revit LT)

        To install the following items, select the check boxes. Clear check boxes to omit items from the installation. (These items can be installed later, if preferred.)

        • BIM 360 Add-in for Revit (for sharing models with other teams using BIM 360)
        • FormIt Add-In for Revit (for converting files for use with FormIt)
        • Revit 2017 MEP Fabrication Configuration - Imperial (content for fabrication configurations using imperial units)
        • Revit 2017 MEP Fabrication Configuration - Metric (content for fabrication configurations using metric units)
      • Desktop Shortcut
      • Discipline (not available for Revit LT)
      • UK Terminology (only for English installations of Autodesk Revit)
      • Project Path
   3. Click the arrow below the product name again to collapse the configuration settings.
3. For Autodesk Revit Content Libraries, do the following:
   1. Click its arrow to expand the settings.
   2. Complete the following items to change default settings:
      • Content
      • Configurable
   3. Click the arrow below Autodesk Revit Content Libraries again to collapse the configuration settings.
4. Most installations also install the following item, if it is not already installed on the system. If you do not want to install it now, clear the check box:
   • Material Library (for applying materials to elements in the building design)
5. Click Install to proceed with the installation.

A status dialog displays while the installer reads content from the media and from online resources, and installs the software. This process may take several minutes to complete.
