Apply the Distributed Loads

Next, we will apply the distributed loads to the top horizontal beam.

1. With the Selection Shape Point or Rectangle and Selection Select Lines commands active, click and drag to draw a box around the top line of the model. Be careful not to select any of the adjacent diagonal elements.
2. Click Setup Beam Loads Beam Distributed Load.
   1. Type -10 in the Magnitude field.
   2. Select the Z radio button.
   3. Click OK.   The model displays as shown in the following image.
