- This tutorial uses the model created in the Remote Crank CAD Model tutorial. If this tutorial was not completed, use Meshed Remote Crank.ach, in your tutorial models folder.
- The beam elements have a hollow round (pipe) cross-section—0.6 inch outside diameter (OD), 0.05 inch wall thickness.
- The hand wheel and partial link are made of Red Brass.
- The shaft extension and crank are made of Steel (AISI 4130).
- The beam elements (Centroid Mesh 1) are made of Steel (ASTM - A36).
- The shaft is made of Steel (ASTM-A36)
- Surface contact is defined between the partial link and crank parts.
- A radial and axial pin constraint is placed at the short shaft extension of the crank (-Y end of the crank).
- A radial pin constraint is placed at the shaft extension inserted into the hand wheel hub (specifically, the portion of the cylindrical surface that does not have the flat ground into it).
- The model is fully constrained at the top end surface of the partial link.
- A 200 in·lbf moment load, acting about the Y-axis, is applied to the annular grip ring of the hand wheel.
