Use the options in the Z Slices area to specify the values which will be used to rough machine the composite relief and to specify the material thickness. The Z slices are evenly spaced, and if you change the
Stepdown of a tool and click
Apply, a new thickness for each slice will be displayed.
- Use Model Limits — If selected, the
Start / Surface Z height is the top of the material block or the maximum Z height of the composite relief if there is no material. The
Last Slice Z
height is the minimum Z height of the composite relief plus any material allowance.
- Start / Surface Z — If
Use Model Limits is deselected, enter a value to set the position of the first Z pass.
- Material Allowance
— Enter a value to add or remove extra material from the surface of the composite relief. This allowance sets the distance between the surface of the composite relief and the cutting tool.
- Last Slice Z — If
Use Model Limits is deselected, enter a value to set the position of the final Z pass.
- Machine safe Z — Click the control bar and enter:
- a value in the
Safe Z box to specify the height at which the tool makes rapid moves between toolpath segments. This value must be sufficient to clear any clamps used to hold your material block or sheet in position.
- values in the
Home X,
Home Y, and
Home Z boxes to specify the coordinates of the tool's start and end position. This should be a safe distance away from the material block or sheet.
- Tolerance — Enter a value to determine how closely you want the cutting tool to follow the shape of the composite relief.
