Importing text file data

  1. Click Load Data to display the Load Data dialog.
  2. Locate the file.
    Note: You can open files saved as .txt, or .csv.
  3. Select the file. Its name is displayed in the File Name box.
  4. Click Open. This displays the Text File Import dialog.

    The dialog contains a preview of the data within the file. You can control the display of this data and what parts are used.

    • In the Delimiters area, select the option for the delimiter that has been used to divide the data in the imported text file.
      Note: All delimiters contained within quotation marks," ", are ignored. If a delimiter has been used other than any of those listed, you must enter the delimiter in the box, and then select the Other option.
    • Select First row is column headers to set the first row of text as column headers.
    • In the Start import at row box, specify the row from which you want to import data. You can either enter the number in the box, or use the and arrows to set its number.
  5. Click OK to import the data.
