About Editing Part References (AutoCAD Mechanical)

Once a Part Reference has been created, you can perform some of the following modifications:

• Exclude the Part Reference from parts lists

  In some cases you want to keep an item in the BOM, but exclude it from parts lists only. Use the AMPARTREFEDIT command and select the relevant options to exclude it from all parts lists.

• Override the quantity of a Part Reference

  In some cases, you do not want to show all the parts of an assembly in the drawing. You can select the corresponding Part Reference in the drawing area and override its quantity so that the BOM reflects the correct quantity.

• Modify the component properties of a Part Reference

  To change any of the component properties of the part represented by the Part Reference you can use the AMPARTREFEDIT command to do so. All linked Part References (Part References created using the reference option) reflect the changes you make.

• Delete a Part Reference

  Part references can be deleted in the same way that any other mechanical object is deleted; using power erase. However, block Part References are not visible in the drawing area, so you cannot use power erase on them. To delete an associated Part Reference, use the AMPARTREFEDIT command and use the Disconnect option in the dialog box.
