About Enhancements to Power Dimensions (AutoCAD Mechanical)

We have enhanced the AMPOWERDIM command to create dimensions for chamfers.

Previously, you had to use the AMCHAM2D and AMCHAM2D_DIM command to create chamfer dimensions. These commands could not create chamfer dimensions in a layout without activating the viewport. This limitation does not apply to AMPOWERDIM.

Previously, chamfer dimensions were not associative. Now, chamfer dimensions created by AMPOWERDIM, and AMCHAM2D are associative by default. So, when you change the size of a chamfer, the chamfer dimensions update automatically. If necessary, you can force these commands to create non-associative dimensions by setting the AMCHAMDIMASSOC system variable to 0.

Note: Chamfer dimensions that the AMCHAM2D_DIM command creates are non-associative.

We also added a command named AMPOWERDIM_CHAM, which jumps directly to the Chamfer option of the AMPOWERDIM command.

Saving to Older Versions

Chamfer dimensions created by the AMPOWERDIM command and AMPOWERDIM_CHAM command are backward compatible. So, older versions of AutoCAD Mechanical can read the dimensions without any issue.
