Data Shortcut Manager Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to repair broken data shortcuts and to replace drawing objects with data shortcuts.

This dialog box enables you to compare the objects and data shortcuts that are in the current drawing to the data shortcuts that are available in the current project. You can select a drawing object, or a broken data shortcut, and then link it to a valid data shortcut. You can also use this dialog box to create references to data shortcuts, and to create folders for organizing data shortcuts and references.

Expand All

Expands all items in the tree.

Collapse All

Collapses all items in the tree.

Show Only Broken Data Shortcuts
Filters the list of drawing objects to show only the data shortcuts that are broken. Broken data shortcuts are marked with a warning icon: .

Drawing Objects

Displays all objects that are in current drawing. The tree displays objects that exist as data shortcuts, as well as objects that are native to the current drawing, unless the Show Only Broken Data Shortcuts check box is selected.

When you select an object in the Drawing Objects tree, the grid area below Drawing Objects displays information about the object. The following table lists the object types and the source file and path information that is displayed for each object type.

Context Menu
You can right-click to access commands in a context menu.
  • Select: Selects the object in the drawing.
  • Zoom To: Zooms to the object in the drawing.
  • Pan To: Pans to the object in the drawing.
  • Refresh: Refreshes the display of the Drawing Objects tree.
Link To Data Shortcut

Associates the selected object in the Drawing Objects tree to the selected shortcut in the Data Shortcuts tree.

Data Shortcuts

Displays all objects that are available as data shortcuts in the current data shortcut project.

When you select a data shortcut in the Data Shortcuts tree, the grid area below Data Shortcuts displays information about the data shortcut. The following table lists the object types and the source file and path information that is displayed for each object type.

Note: The Source File and Path rows have an open folder icon which you can use to change the source file and path for a data shortcut.

Context Menu
You can right-click to access commands in a context menu.
  • Set Data Shortcuts Project Folder: Opens the Set Data Shortcuts Folder dialog box, so you can select a different folder if needed. This command is available for the top Data Shortcuts node only.
  • Set Working Folder: Opens a dialog box you can use to select a different working folder if needed. This command is available for the top Data Shortcuts node only.
  • Validate Data Shortcuts: Checks whether the data shortcut references are valid. This command is available for the top Data Shortcuts node only.
  • Create Folder: Creates a new folder for organizing the data shortcuts.
  • Create Reference: Creates a reference in the current drawing to the selected data shortcut.
  • Open Source Drawing: Opens the drawing that contains the referenced object.
  • Promote: Promotes the data shortcut in the current drawing.
  • Repair Broken Shortcut: Opens a dialog box from which you can select the drawing that contains the referenced object. This command is available for broken references only.
  • Remove: Deletes the data shortcut.
  • Refresh: Refreshes the display of the Data Shortcuts tree.
