Embodied water

Embodied water is a measure of the amount of water required to produce the selected material.

Publically available data for each plastic material family is used to calculate the embodied water contribution to the Plastic material impact indicator.

Data source: PlasticsEurope http://www.plasticseurope.org

To view the embodied water information, click Home tab > Plastic Material Impact panel > Information.

A dialog appears displaying the Embodied water rating of the family of plastics to which the selected material belongs. The Alert panel on the same dialog will define any embodied water alerts.

Embodied water calculation

To calculate the embodied water value, the amount of embodied water used when making the raw material needed to manufacture this part is multiplied by the weight of the part.
