FeatureCAM — The source of the toolpaths.
.FM part — The machine-independent part file.
Note: The part is loaded into FeatureCAM to be posted.
XBUILD — The general post processing program for milling, turning, turn/milling, and Wire EDM. It's a separate program that creates files containing templates for creating machine specific G-code.
.CNC data file — The machine-specific template.
POST — When you simulate the document, the POST translator uses the CNC data file to convert the toolpaths into machine-specific G-code.
Code file — G-code text files for particular machines. The code is displayed in the NC Code tab of FeatureCAM's Results panel.
