To create a new part document:
- Select File > New.
- Select the type of your part from:
- Turning Setup for 2-axis turned parts. This is only the type of the first setup of your part. Your part can contain multiple setups and these setups can mix different manufacturing techniques.
- Turn/Mill for turning that supports live tooling.
- Vertical Mill/Turn for a vertical mill/turn machine. This creates two Setups automatically,
Setup1 is a turning Setup and
Setup2 is a milling Setup.
- Milling Setup for 2.5D or 3D milled parts. Select this type for 5-axis positioning as well. This is only the type of your first setup.
- Wire EDM Setup for a 2-axis or 4-axis wire EDM part.
- Multiple Fixture for laying out multiple parts on the table. You can mix different milled parts for multiple part manufacturing.
- Tombstone Fixture for a
Tombstone Machining part.
- Simulation Machine Design for a Machine Design document. Use this document to create a machine tool model for simulation.
- Swiss Turning for Swiss lathe turning using a sliding head stock.
Note: The part types available depend on which
FeatureCAM license you have.
- Select the
Unit of Measure to model parts, features, and tools in inches or millimeters.
- Select how you would like to set up your stock. Select from:
- Wizard — Select this option to use a wizard to guide you through the process of creating stock. This option is best for novice users.
- Properties — Select this option to edit the stock properties directly without using the wizard.
- None — Select this option to use the default stock properties. You can edit the stock later.
- In the
Copy Machining Configurations From list, select a machining configuration to copy settings and default attributes from other documents, from your standard configuration, or from the
FeatureCAM defaults.
- Click
Save options as default if you want to use the same settings every time you create a new document.
- Click
Create New Document.
