Open Pocket features

You can machine an open Pocket from outside the stock by using a Face feature. This enables you to reduce tool wear by avoiding unnecessary plunging.

To create a Face feature to machine an open pocket from outside the stock:

1. In the New Feature wizard, select Face.
2. Select Extract using FeatureRECOGNITION.
3. Click Next.
4. Select the horizontal surface of the pocket and click Finish.
5. On the Strategy tab of the Feature Properties dialog, select Rough pass to include a roughing operation.
6. Select a Stepover type of Vortex or NT Zigzag.
7. Click OK to close the Feature Properties dialog.
