Updates selected Inventor projects and files at a scheduled time and edits existing update design tasks. 
The default task opens files, updates them, updates dependencies, and saves files, overwriting the previous versions. 
You can update Inventor part files (*.ipt), assembly files (*.iam - not available in Inventor LT), drawing files (*.idw, .dwg), and iFeature files (*.ide) on a local machine. Local files are output to local folders only. 
-  In the Inventor Task Scheduler window, click Update Design  . .The information in the task list switches to show any update design tasks that you saved previously.  
- In the Inventor Task Scheduler window, right-click, and select Create Task  Update Design. Update Design.
- In the Update Design dialog select any of these options: - Add Project. Specifies an active Autodesk Inventor project. All supported files in the project are updated. 
-  Add Folder. Specifies a folder to include in the task. Your selection includes the folder’s Inventor files and their dependencies. If you choose Add Folder, you have two further options: include subfolders (click in the Recursive column) and specify file types to include (click in the File Name column). 
-  Add Files. Specifies individual files. 
 If necessary, repeat the steps to add more files and folders.  
- In the Task Properties box, enter a task name and a time-out threshold. 
- Specify a schedule, or select Immediately. 
- Click Options. Set options to apply to all files in the task. - Total Rebuild. To take advantage of new functionality or performance enhancements, set to On. 
- Make All Raster Drawing Views Precise. Converts all raster views to precise views. If you use this option, Autodesk recommends that you select .idw/.dwg in the File Name column of the Update Design dialog. 
- Update Local Materials and Appearances. Automatically updates all local materials and appearance to the selected library in the active project. 
Note: When specifying a folder, the File Name column provides control to filter to the type of files you want to perform the selected task on.  It is recommended to select .idw/.dwg when converting raster to precise.  Please note that Skip migrated file and Skip unresolved references will filter these conditions out of the task.  
 
 
- To run the task as scheduled, In the Update Design dialog box, click OK.
