First Steps

Please consider the following before starting the installation:

  1. Ensure that you have permissions to install applications on the computer or network.
  2. Review the product documentation to clarify installation procedures.
  3. Close all running Autodesk programs.
  4. Install all Windows Updates that are pending for your machine, and then restart the computer.
Warning: Make sure that you have updated the Universal C Runtime (UCRT) component from Microsoft. Unless you have installed Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3118401), or later, you may see an impact on your ability to interact with your results.
Attention: It is important that you review the corporate Installation documents before you install this product. Autodesk 2018.2 products include NLM version 11.13.1.2; all network license servers working with 2018.2 products must also run NLM version 11.13.1.2. The 2018.2 clients cannot get licenses from a server running NLM 11.12 or lower. However, older versions of Autodesk products will still work on NLM 11.13.1.2.

You will need the following for this installation:

  • Your Serial number and Product key.
  • The name of the license server computer.
LICPATH.LIC
LICPATH.LIC identifies which license server to point to, to call a license. If you type in the wrong license server name during installation, or need to point to a different license server following installation, edit the server in LICPATH.LIC.
  1. Locate LICPATH.LIC in the software folder under %ProgramData%\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\57'X'I1_etc, where 'X' is a number dependent on the software you have purchased.
  2. Open LICPATH.LIC with a text editor.
  3. Change the server to the new name, save, and close LICPATH.LIC.
  4. Launch the software.
