Previously, selecting a plane required a combination of a banded selection and individual element selections. This was a time consuming task that required careful element selection around features.
A new tool has been added to the Mesh selection toolbox. Select an element from the required plane and then click on 
Expand to Planar triangles and all connected elements on the same plane will be selected.
