Meshing basics

To run an analysis, the volume of the of the part is represented by a mesh.

The mesh consists of triangular elements connected with nodes. An analysis consists of understanding what happens at each element and node through the production process. This is also called a Finite Element analysis.

The three supported finite element mesh types are:

An important part of an analysis is to produce a mesh that accurately represents the part. Meshing can be performed locally, on your computer, or on the cloud. The one click option allows you to generate a mesh as a part of the analysis sequence. This mesh can be refined manually if required.

A mesh can be calculated locally or on the cloud depending on your preferences.

Note: To run jobs on the cloud, you need a current Autodesk® Account, an Autodesk ID and password, and sufficient Cloud Credits to complete the task.
