Anchors are commonly used to understand how deflection results are related to warpage tolerances.
Anchors are used to:
- Consistently look at deflection results between studies or deflection variants, such as differential cooling, differential shrinkage, orientation effects, and corner effects.
- Compare deflections to a tolerance.
- Represent an assembly condition.
Several anchors may be set up on the same part to look at different areas of the part.
In the following figure, three anchors are used on the rim of the tank. The first anchor set as indicated by the arrow, defines the origin of the anchor system. Therefore, the part looks like it is shrinking towards the first anchor.
