— Shows the 3D Offset toolpath in the shallow areas.
— Shows the Constant Z toolpath in the steep areas.
Use the Steep and Shallow Finishing strategy to calculate a shallow boundary, and then create a Constant Z toolpath in the steep areas of a model and a Raster, or Offset, toolpath in the shallow areas. This differs from Optimised Constant Z Finishing as you can specify when to change from 3D offset machining to constant Z machining and you can choose between raster and offset in shallow regions.
Tip: This strategy provides a simple interface for creating toolpaths that machine both steep and shallow areas. The alternative is to create boundaries to define the steep and shallow areas and use different strategies to create the toolpaths for each area.
The pages associated with the Steep and Shallow Finishing strategy are:
- Steep and shallow finishing —the main page used to define a steep and shallow finishing toolpath.
- Order — settings to control the order of machining.
- Raster —defines the raster options for the toolpath. This page is only available if you select a Type of Raster on the main page.
- Automatic verification — Settings to automatically verify the toolpath when calculating it.
