Using Point Cloud Files in a Project

Link a Point Cloud file into the project to provide a highly accurate visual reference of the existing condition of a building or site.

This reference can then be used to assist in you building information modeling (BIM) authoring tasks.

About Point Clouds
You can use point clouds to provide the existing condition of a building or site. Use this information as the a starting point for the Revit model.
Insert a Point Cloud File
Insert an indexed point cloud file into a Revit project or convert a raw format point cloud file to the .rcp and .rcs indexed formats.
Change Colors for a Point Cloud
While indexing a raw data point cloud file or inserting an indexed file, Revit determines the default color mode for the point cloud, depending on the color data in the source file. Use a Color Mode option to specify visual settings for a point cloud.
Upgrade a Revit Model with Linked Point Clouds
If a Revit model uses linked point cloud files in PCG format, upgrade them to the RCP format to improve results.
Visibility/Graphics for Point Clouds
To modify the visibility and graphics of point clouds in each view, use the Point Clouds tab in the Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog.
Point Cloud Properties
You can use properties to change the scale of a point cloud, and define phasing information.
