Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) Row Property Definition

Customize Bill of Materials (BOM) row properties and create new BOM row properties that map to file properties to stream line your design management process.

Create a BOM Row Property Definition

Before a BOM property can be used, it must be defined by the Administrator.

  1. Click Tools  Administration Vault Settings.
  2. In the Vault Settings dialog box, click the Behaviors tab.
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Click New.
  5. In the New Property dialog box, enter a name for the new property.
  6. Select a property type from the Type list.
  7. Select Bill of Materials from the Associations list and click Close.
    Note: BOM properties cannot be associated with other entities.
  8. On the Settings tab, determine whether you want Basic Search enabled or disabled.
  9. Enter a value in the Initial Value text box.
  10. Text or Number types–If you would like a list of values for the user to choose from, click in the List Values field and create your list.
  11. Select the Mapping tab and map the user-defined property to a BOM row property.
    BOM Row Properties may only have Read mappings.
    Note: Bi-directional mapping is not supported for BOM Row Properties.

  12. Click OK to create the BOM row property.
  13. To delete a user-defined property, select a property, and then click Delete. Deleting a Property does not remove it from change orders that have already been created.
  14. Click OK to close the Property Definitions dialog.
Note: Custom or intrinsic BOM row properties must be added as fields in the BOM view to be seen. See Customize the BOM view for more information.
