The Vault add-in for Solidworks supports the creation of DWF preview files. These enable you to preview a file in Vault without having CAD installed on your computer. DWFs can be created:
- On a local computer during check-in.
- With the job processor; this includes batch creation using the Autoloader or check-ins.
The Vault add-in for Solidworks does not support DWF creation with the Vault Browser “Update” feature.
Create DWFs on Check-In
- From Solidworks, check in a file.
- In the Check In dialog box, click Settings
.
- In the Settings dialog box, under Visualization Attachment Options, select
Create During Check In.
- To also create visualization files for all children of the file, select
Apply To All Files.
When the files are checked in, DWFs are created on your local computer and attached to the original documents in Vault.
Create DWFs Using the Job Processor
Use one of these methods to assign DWF creation to the Job Processor. The DWFs are created while you continue to work. This is useful for large assemblies that need extended time to create and upload all DWF files.
Note: Make sure the Job Processor has been installed and enabled. See the related links at the end of this topic for more information.
- From the Check In dialog box, click Settings
and select
Send To Job Server under Visualization Attachment Options.
- In the Vault Explorer Preview tab, if a DWF does not exist for a file, select
.
- In Vault, select one or more files and click
.
- When using the Autodesk Autoloader for SolidWorks, click Settings
and select
Create DWF During Upload.
Check the Job Server Queue to see the status of the DWFs you have requested.
View DWFs
- From Autodesk Vault or the Vault Browser, select the file you want to preview.
- Select
Preview.
Visualization files (DWFs) are hidden and do not appear in the file grid. Once created, they are checked into Vault as attachments to the source files and set to hidden. To view hidden attachments in Vault Explorer, select
Show Hidden Files from the Options menu under Tools.
