Use the Pro/ENGINEER Extension for Vault

The Pro/ENGINEER extension, if installed, enables you to work with Pro/ENGINEER files from the Autodesk Vault client.

Get and Check out Files

Note: Make sure you use the Pro/ENGINEER Get function to check out files rather than the Vault Get function. This is because the Vault Get function does not support:
  • Family tables (instance files)
  • Multiple workspaces
  • Iterations like mypart.prt.23; Vault will not over iterate, but will instead download to a .1 iteration

To get and check out files with the Pro/ENGINEER Extension for Vault:

  1. In the Vault client, navigate to and select the files you want to get or check out.
  2. Right-click the selection and select ProENGINEER / Creo > ProE - Get.
  3. From the box at the top of the Get dialog box, select the file revision or version to download.

Optional: Click Toggle Show All Versions .

  4. Select the files you want to check out.
  5. Select the workspace to which you want to download the files.

Start Pro/ENGINEER from Vault

  1. On the Vault toolbar, select Pro ENGINEER / Creo > Launch ProE.
  2. If the Pro/ENGINEER executable is not found, you are prompted to locate it.
  3. Select a workfolder and a Launch Subfolder.

Pro / ENGINEER downloads the files to the selected workspace. It creates a search.pro file with all search paths required to open files with dependencies in multiple locations.

Go to the Pro/ENGINEER working folder

  1. On the Vault toolbar, select Pro ENGINEER / Creo > Go to ProEngineer / Creo working folder.
  2. Select a work folder.

The work folder supports multiple workspaces.

Creating Visualization Files

You can create DWF files on check-in with the Pro/ENGINEER extension as long as this is enabled in Options. You might turn this off if you find it is affecting performance. If you do this, you can create DWFs later using the Pro/ENGINEER Job Server.

Pro/ENGINEER does not support the “Update View” feature from Vault Explorer or use the standard Autodesk Vault Job Processor. This means you cannot queue updates on check-in or from the Vault Explorer.
