Weld Surface Properties

The pedal arm contains weld surface data from Moldflow. In order to understand the effect the weld surfaces have on the structural life of the pedal arm, we must first calculate the strength reduction factor for each point that lies on the weld surface.

  1. While still on the Material tab, click (Material > Weld Surfaces > Weld Surface Properties).
  2. Make sure the User-specified strength reduction factor option is selected.
  3. Set the strength reduction factor value to 0.90.
  4. Click OK.

Here we can see the weld surface movement on the Moldflow study. After we map results, we will be able to see the strength reduction factors for the structural model.
