Define a Composite Layup

Our model is currently defined with a solid property:

PSOLID, 2, 9031

As mentioned previously, the composite plate has a [45/0/-45/90]3S layup. To create this composite layup, we use the layered composite property, PCOMPS.

  1. Locate and remove the PSOLID entry.
  2. Add a PCOMPS property that is assigned a Property ID of 2 and Material Coordinate System 11.
    PCOMPS, 2, 11
  3. Add 24 plies to the layered property. Assign each ply to MID 1. Each ply will have a thickness of 0.006 in. Be sure to follow the [45/0/-45/90]3S layup and request output of stress and strain for each ply.
