You can install this product on a computer or network server without uinstalling an earlier version of Maya. Just be advised that if you need to uninstall and reinstall one of the products, the license type and product activation method may differ between the two versions. For example, the earlier product may require you to enter a serial number and product key, while the newer product may require an Autodesk ID.
