Setting point loads

When applying loading conditions to a part, the location(s), direction of the load (force), and the magnitude of the load must be specified.

  1. If you want to use a local coordinate system when setting the loads, first define and activate the local coordinate system.
  2. Click Point Load (Boundary Conditions tab > Constraints and Loads panel > Loads > Edge Load).
  3. Select the locations on the model where you want to set the load(s). Enter the force to be applied and the allowed rotation (moment) for the X, Y, and Z directions.
  4. Select Apply. The load should now be applied to the model.
  5. Click Close to close the dialog.
Tip: You can apply the load in any arbitrary (non-global) direction by first setting up a local axis system at the location (see Step 2). If a local axis system is not specified, the load will be set globally.
