Use the process settings to enable a fiber orientation analysis.
The setup tasks below are for fiber-filled thermoplastic materials.
Note: There are some recommendations for you to consider when setting up a fiber orientation analysis:
- To obtain fiber length results, ensure you have selected a long-fiber composite material, and the option to
Calculate fiber breakage is set to
Determined by length.
- To obtain a fiber length weighted distribution result, activate the option to
Output fiber length weighted distribution and select the nodes you want included.
- For most other results, ensure that you have selected a shrinkage model in the process settings.
When all the items in the
Study Tasks pane have check marks against them, the analysis is ready to launch.
To enable a fiber orientation analysis in the process settings:
- In the
Process Settings Wizard dialog, select
Fiber orientation analysis if fiber material.
- Click
Next if necessary until you see the
Advanced options button.
To obtain fiber length results
- Click
Advanced options.
- Click
Edit associated with
Solver parameters.
- Select the
Fiber Analysis tab, and confirm that
Calculate fiber breakage is set to
Determined by length.
To obtain a fiber length weighted distribution result
- Click
Advanced options.
- Click
Edit associated with
Solver parameters.
- Select the
Fiber Analysis tab.
- Click
Fiber breakage parameters.
- Change
Output fiber length weighted profile to
Yes.
- Click
Fiber length distribution node list, and enter the nodes that you want to include.
To select a shrinkage model
- Click
Advanced options.
- Click
Edit associated with the
Molding material.
- Select the
Shrinkage Properties tab and select a shrinkage model associated with your mesh type.
To select intermediate results
- Click
Fiber Solver Parameters.
- Select
Output intermediate fiber orientation results.
