Setting edge loads

When applying loading conditions to a part, the location(s), direction of the load (force), and the magnitude of the load must be specified.

If you want to use a local coordinate system when setting the loads, first define and activate the local coordinate system.

  1. Click Edge Load (Boundary Conditions tab > Constraints and Loads panel > Loads > Edge Load).
  2. Select the locations on the model where you want to set the load(s), and enter the force to be applied in the X, Y, and Z directions.
  3. Select Apply. The load should now be applied to the model.
  4. Click Close to close the dialog.
Tip: You can apply the load in any arbitrary (non-global) direction by first setting up a local axis system at the location (see Step 2). If a local axis system is not specified, the load will be set globally.
