Initial Gas Amount Dialog

Use this dialog to specify the weight percentage and the foaming gas conversion percentage of the chemical blowing agent.

Analysis sequence: Dependent on mesh type
Dialog location
Click Process Settings (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Process Settings) and click Advanced options then the Edit icon associated with Process controller. Select the Microcellular Control tab. From the Initial gas amount drop down list select Chemical blowing agent (CBA). Click Edit value.
Dialog element Explanation
Weight % of CBA

The weight of chemical blowing agent in the resin, as a percentage.

Foaming gas conversion % of CBA by weight

The weight of foaming gas generated from the reaction of the chemical blowing agent, as a percentage. 1

For each gram of sodium bicarbonate in the resin, 0.262 g of carbon dioxide is generated. Therefore, the Foaming gas conversion % of CBA is 26.2%.
