Multiple barrel controller dialog

To access this dialog, make sure you have selected Multiple-Barrel Thermoplastics Injection Molding as the molding process. Click (Boundary Conditions tab > Multiple Barrel panel > Set Locations), then click Edit.

Dialog widget Explanation
Melt temperature The temperature of the molten plastic, or melt, as it starts to flow into the cavity.
Maximum machine injection stroke Enter the maximum allowable injection stroke that your injection molding machine is capable of.
Machine screw diameter Enter the size of the injection molding screw on your molding machine.
Maximum machine injection pressure Enter the maximum allowable hydraulic pressure for your injection molding machine.
Delay timer The delay time is the amount of time you want to wait before you start injecting. By default, there is no delay.
Delays are set relative to another barrel location. The injection node associated with the reference barrel is used in the injection delay setup, not the reference barrel ID.
By time
Enter the delay time in seconds, and the node ID for the reference barrel location.
By ram position
Enter the distance in mm, and the node ID for the reference barrel location.
Filling control Specify how you want to control the filling phase of the analysis.

Select the appropriate method, click Edit profile, and then enter the filling control profile.

%Stroke vs %ram speed
A stroke of 100 percent indicates the position of the screw after plastication when it is ready to start the shot, and zero percent stroke indicates the position of the screw at the end of injection. Percentage stroke values should be entered in descending order because backwards movement of the screw is not allowed.

Click Edit profile and type your values in the table to change the profile.

Stroke vs ram speed

The stroke provides a measure of the amount of polymer injected during a cycle. It is the distance between the screw back position and the screw forward position of an injection molding screw.

Click Edit profile and type your values in the table to change the profile.

Velocity/pressure switch-over The criteria by which the molding machine switches from velocity control to pressure control.
[By % volume filled] at
Specify the percentage of volume filled value to switch from velocity control to pressure control.
[By ram position] at
Specify the ram position value to switch from velocity control to pressure control.
Pack/holding control Specify how you want to control the pressure phase of the molding process.

Select the appropriate method, click Edit profile, and then enter the pressure profile.

%Filling pressure vs time
Controls the packing phase of the molding cycle as a function of percentage filling pressure versus time.
Packing pressure vs time
Controls the packing phase of the molding cycle as a function of injection pressure versus time.
Cooling time
[Specified] of
Specify the time, after the packing phase, when the part is sufficiently frozen to be ejected from the mold.
Name Enter a unique name to differentiate each of your multiple barrel controllers
