Gas-Assisted Injection Controller dialog

The Gas-Assisted Injection Controller dialog is used to specify gas injection settings for a Gas-assisted injection molding analysis.

The collection of property values defined on the dialog are saved to a property set with the description shown in the Name box.

Prerequisites
Mesh type: Analysis sequence specific
  • 3D or
  • Midplane
Molding Process: Gas-assisted Injection Molding
Analysis sequence: Dependent on mesh type
Dialog location
Click (Boundary Conditions tab > Gas panel > Set Entrances). The Set Gas entrance dialog opens. Click New. In the Gas entrance dialog, click Edit.

All solver parameters have a default value that is suitable for most analyses.

Dialog element Explanation
Gas delay time The gas delay time is the time from velocity/pressure switch-over to when injection of gas into the mold begins. If you want the gas to be ejected immediately at the time of velocity/pressure switch-over, enter a delay time of zero.
Gas injection control Select whether you want the solver to automatically determine a suitable gas injection profile for your part, or whether you want to enter a profile manually.
Gas injection control by Select the gas injection controller type you want to simulate. The following options are available:
Gas pressure controller
Select this option to simulate the constant pressure process where the gas pressure is profiled during the gas injection cycle. This corresponds to the Battenfeld Airmold process.
Gas volume controller
Select this option to simulate the constant volume process where a preset volume of gas is available to be injected. No additional gas is supplied during the molding cycle. This corresponds to the Cinpres process.

After selecting a suitable option from the drop-down menu, click Edit Controller Settings to access a dialog where you can enter the gas profiling data.
