The
Shrink analysis verifies whether critical dimensions can be met, given the calculated recommended % shrinkage allowance for the part as a whole.
- Click
() and select
Shrink from the drop-down menu.
- For each critical dimension to be defined:
- Click on a location at one end of the critical dimension.
- Click on the location at the other end of the critical dimension. The distance between the two locations is displayed.
- Specify the allowed +ve and -ve tolerances for the selected model dimension or accept the default values which represent +/- 5% of the modeled dimension.
- Click
Apply to create the critical dimension input for Shrink analysis. The critical dimension will appear as a light blue bar on the part. It will be placed in a separate layer containing critical dimensions for Shrink analysis. This layer is located in the Constraints layer folder.
Note: You can add a critical dimension to a CAD model and on meshing, a node is created at the end points of the critical dimension. After the CAD model is meshed, you can only select the nearest node for your dimension.
- To change the attributes of an existing critical dimension:
- Click
Select.
- Click on the critical dimension symbol (light blue solid line).
- Right-click and select
Properties from the context sensitive menu.
- Edit the properties as required and click
OK.
