Applies to 2017.3 Update and later
This option specifies the model used by the 3D Fiber analysis solver to calculate fiber orientation.
The following options are available:
Dialog element | Explanation |
---|---|
Folgar-Tucker model with auto-calculated Ci | Select this option if you want the solver to automatically calculate a suitable Ci value based on an empirical function. |
Folgar-Tucker model with specified Ci | Select this option if you want to use a specific Ci value. Specify the desired value in the Coefficient of interaction (Ci) text box. |
RSC or ARD-RSC model (determined by length) | Select this option if you want the solver to calculate the fiber orientation using the
Reduced Strain Closure model (for short fiber-filled materials) or the
Anisotropic Rotary Diffusion model (for long fiber-filled materials) combined with the Reduced Strain Closure model. The software automatically determines which model to use based on the
Initial Length value included in the
Filler Properties data and calculates a suitable Ci value. Specify a value in the
Reduced Strain Closure factor text box.
Note: Fibers having an initial length longer than 1 mm are generally considered as
long fibers.

RSC model with specified Ci | Select this option if you want the solver to calculate the orientation dynamics using the Reduced Strain Closure model, but you want to specify a Ci value. Click Edit settings to display the Fiber Orientation Model Parameters dialog. |
ARD-RSC model for long fibers | Select this option if you want the solver to calculate the fiber orientation using the Anisotropic Rotary Diffusion model (for fibers having an initial length longer than 1 mm) combined with the Reduced Strain Closure model. Specify a value in the Reduced Strain Closure factor text box. |
Moldflow Rotational Diffution model | Select this option if you want the solver to calculate the fiber orientation using the Moldflow Rotational Diffution (MRD) model. |
