Regions from Mesh/STL tool

Use the Regions from Mesh/STL command to consolidate all elements from a Midplane or Dual-Domain mesh, or from a model's STL representation, into a single editable region.

Dialog element Explanation
Tolerance
Planar
This is the tolerance used to check the distance from the triangle centroid to the seed triangle plane when creating a region. The triangle to be checked will not be placed in same region as the seed triangle unless the distance is less than the specified tolerance.
Angular
The tolerance used to check the bend angle between the normal vector of a triangle plane with the normal vector of the seed triangle plane when creating a region. The triangle to be checked will not be placed in the same region as the seed triangle unless the bend angle is less than the specified tolerance.
Create as

This section is disabled unless you are using a tool on the Create panel of the Geometry tab.

In the Geometry tab, create a modeling entity and assign properties to it. For example:

  • create a curve and assign runner properties to it.
  • create a region and assign part surface properties to it.

In some cases you have the option to Create as modeling entity. No properties are assigned. This option may be appropriate if, for example, you are creating curves to construct a region. You must assign properties to the region, but you don't need to assign properties to the curves.

Tip: To change the properties of an entity, click Change.
Filter Use the filter to select a desired model or mesh entity. When you use a filter, the pointer snaps to the specified entity.
