Mold Block Wizard

The Mold Block Wizard is a tool for quickly modeling a cuboid CAD mold or outer surface around your model, to improve the accuracy of a Cool analysis.

To access this wizard, click Mold Surface (Geometry tab > Create panel > Mold Block).

The Mold Block Wizard determines the dimensions of the required CAD mold or mold surface from the supplied inputs. Unless you choose to create a CAD mold directly, the wizard creates a region for each face of the cuboid, assigns the property Mold surface to the regions, and then meshes the regions. The mold surface regions and elements are assigned to separate layers so you can control their visibility and properties.

Widget	Explanation
Origin	Centered Select this option if you want the center of the mold and the center of the part to coincide. X, Y, Z Enter the distance to offset the part from the center of the mold.
Dimensions	The automatically calculated mold dimensions. Alter these dimensions as required.
Create as CAD mold block	If your CAD part and CAD mold component models are clean and error-free, create a CAD mold directly. This option enables the mesh auto-sizing feature and prevents you from using Stitch Contact Interfaces feature.
Use custom merge tolerance	The part and insert should make perfect contact at the interface. If this is not true, set a custom merge tolerance.
