The
Reflect command is used to create mirror images of the entities you select.
The Reflect tool allows you to copy or move selected parts of the model, for example, to create a multi-cavity model.
To access this tool, click
( ).
Dialog element | Explanation |
---|---|
Mirror plane | Select the XY, XZ, or YZ plane to use as the plane on which to reflect the selected entities. |
Reference point | A point in space about which the selected translation will occur.
For example, you might specify a rotation 90 degrees around the X axis, centered on the point 100, 0, 0. |
Move or copy | Select the
Move radio button if you wish to move the entities to a new location, while deleting them from their original location.
Select the Copy radio button if you wish to keep the entities in their original location, and copy them to a new location. |
Attempt connection to existing model | If this option is selected, the program will make any necessary modeling adjustments, for example merging two co-incident or very close nodes, to ensure that the copied entities are connected to the original entities.
Tip: After copying entities with this option on, use the Connectivity Diagnostic plot in the Mesh menu to check that the connection was successful.

Layer | Allows you to specify a layer where to copy or move entities. The options change depending on whether you select
Move or
Copy . Select:
|
Create as | Allows you to simultaneously create a modeling entity and assign properties to it. For example
In some cases you have the option to Create as modeling entity. No properties will be assigned. This option may be appropriate if, for example, you are creating curves to construct a region. You must assign properties to the region, but you don't need to assign properties to the curves. To change the properties of an entity, click Change . |
Filter | The filter helps you select a desired model or mesh entity. When you use a filter, the pointer will snap to the specified entity. |
