Modeling Plane

The modeling plane is used to create or relocate parting planes and to facilitate the modeling of cooling channels and runner systems.

Create a modeling plane

  1. Click Create LCS (Geometry tab > Local Coordinate System panel) and enter coordinates in the First box. Click Apply then Close.

  2. Select the local coordinate system that you have just created, then click (Geometry tab > Local Coordinate System > Modeling Plane).

Modeling plane specifications

  1. Click to open the Applications Menu.
  2. Click the Options button at the bottom of the dialog to open the Options dialog.
  3. On the General tab, set the measurement units if desired.
  4. In the Modeling plane section of the General tab, enter the Grid size and Plane size, and check Snap to grid if you want nodes created at the nearest grid point. If unchecked, nodes will be created exactly where you click.
Note: The grid size determines the distance between the lines in the modeling plane grid.

Hide a modeling plane

  1. Click (Geometry tab > Local Coordinate System > Modeling Plane).

    The modeling plane will disappear.

Activate a modeling plane

  1. Select a local coordinate system that you have created, then click (Geometry tab > Local Coordinate System > Modeling Plane).
