Translating model entities

Defining a translation vector by selecting two points is a quick and easy way of moving or copying selected entities in a particular direction. It can be useful if you don't know the precise coordinates of the vector.

Tip: You need to rotate the model into a position that allows you to draw a line in the same direction as your chosen vector.
  1. Click Translate (Geometry tab > Utilities panel > Move > Translate).
  2. Select the entities you want to translate.
  3. Click in the Vector box. The Measurements dialog appears.
  4. Click a point on your model to be the start point of the translation vector. The cursor changes to draw a line as you move the mouse.
  5. Click another point on your model to be the end point of the translation vector.
  6. Close the Measurements dialog.
  7. Specify whether to Move or Copy the entities.
  8. Select a layer option for moving or copying the entities.
  9. Click Apply.
Note: You can specify the vector values in the Vector box instead of using the 2-point selection method.
