To export 3D data to Abaqus from a command line

There are two parts to exporting Fill+Pack, Fiber and Warp results for 3D models to Abaqus: the first is running the mpi2abq.vbs macro to create the necessary files; the second is locating the files and using them in Abaqus.

Note: This feature is only supported for 3D models on PC.

The command line looks for scripts stored in the default project directory, typically My Documents\My AMI 2019 Projects\commands\. If no script is found, it looks in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Moldflow Synergy 2019\data\commands.

To run the mpi2abq.vbs macro from the command line:

  1. Run an analysis sequence that includes at least a Fill+Pack analysis, to get the results.
  2. Once the analyses are complete, click (View tab > Windows panel > User Interface), and select Command Line.
  3. In the Command Line dialog, type mpi2abq.
  4. Click Go.
  5. In the Interface to Abaqus dialog, enter an output filename, or accept the default, then click OK.
  6. In the Setting units system dialog, type the unit system you want to use, then click OK. The default is SI units.
  7. Click OK 4 times to accept your settings and export the files. The interface files are saved, and the filepath to the saved location is reported in the Command Line dialog.

Once the files are saved, you can use them in Abaqus. Refer to your Abaqus manual for instructions on how to import them.
