You can move parts with varying degrees of precision:
- Drag and drop, using the mouse, offers the least precision, but is useful for moving the part into the correct general location.
- The arrow keys on the keyboard move the part in small increments, and more precisely than using the mouse.
- The
Move function on the ribbon moves the part to a precise coordinate location.
- To move the part using the mouse

Click and hold the center square of a selected part and move to a new location by moving the mouse.
Tip: If you select more than one part, they all move together.
- To move the part using the keyboard

- To move the part relative to the current view angle, use the arrow keys to move it up, down, left, and right. Use the
Page Up and
Page Down keys to move the parts backwards and forwards.
- To move the part relative to the cardinal axes, hold
Shift, and use the arrow keys: left and right arrow keys move the part along the X-axis, up and down keys move it along Y-axis. Use
Shift and the
Page Up and
Page Down keys to move the parts along the Z-axis.
- To move parts to a specific coordinate location

- Select the part that you want to move.
- From the main menu, choose
to open the
Translate parts dialog.
- Select whether the new coordinate values are absolute values (relative to the coordinates X=0, Y=0, Z=0), or values relative to the part's current position (relative translation).
- Enter new coordinates in the
Translation X, Y, and Z edit boxes.
Note: The coordinates for the options
- To Origin
- Center to Origin
- To Bottom
- To Platform Center
also depend on whether you select
Relative Translation or
Absolute Translation.
- Click
Translate to move the part to the new location and close the dialog.
Note: If you are unsure of the exact new coordinates you want, check
Keep window open, to apply the new coordinates without closing the dialog.
