Tech Preview: To Load Simulation Results

Making results from simulating powder-bed fusion and directed-energy deposition runs available within Netfabb

Netfabb can visualize mechanical Simulation results as saved in an EnSight Gold Case file. Read in and display the results of analyses run via the Autodesk® Simulation Utility for Netfabb®, enabling you to make informed adjustments to the component's support structures. Furthermore, Netfabb can use the results to generate density maps for adapting support thickness to local requirements.

Note: While its main functionalities are available and tested, Simulation Feedback is still availabe under Technology Preview conditions only.

1. Choose Analyze > Load Netfabb Simulation Results from the Main menu.
2. Browse to the folder that was created by Simulation for saving test results. (It will be a folder in the same location where the 3MF file was saved out of Netfabb.)
3. Find the file ending in _mechanical.case and load it.

The Simulation results are now available as new branch in the Project Tree.

Results include:

• Total displacement magnitude
• Displacement by cardinal axis
• von Mises stresses

From this point, you can send the results to the supported part they were created from, and overlay their display onto the part to identify requirements for additional support, or potential for saving on support toolpathing.
