An option file is read by a post-processor so the NC output can be run on a CNC machine.
When writing an NC program, you can choose from option files stored:
- locally on your PC
. The default directory is specified using
File tab >
Options >
Customise Path.
- in the cloud
. These are new and updated option files provided by
Autodesk.
If Autodesk provides you with new or updated option files stored in the cloud, or if an option file is certified by an administrator, the files are automatically synced when you open the Select Option File dialog if you are signed in to your Autodesk Account.
Option files do not automatically sync when you open the dialog if you have:
- already used a different version of a certified option file in an NC program; or
- previously selected it from the Select Option File dialog.
- Click
NC Program tab >
Edit panel >
Settings.
- In the
NC Program dialog, click
next to the
Machine Option File box to display the
Select Option File dialog.
- If you want to choose an option file stored in the cloud, make sure you are signed in to your
Autodesk Account. If you are not signed in, click
Log in.
- Choose the option file from the list.
- If you want to choose an option file stored locally, but the file is not in the list, click
to find and choose the file.
Tip: Several example option files are available in
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Manufacturing Post Processor Utility\Generic\.
- If you choose an option file stored in the cloud, choose a
Revision.
Tip: Click

to view information about the different revisions of the chosen file.
- Click
Accept.
