In part 8 of the tutorial, you use the Split tool and Type Properties to place a curtain wall in a model.
This video demonstrates the following:
A curtain wall is just a specific type of wall that is created as a grid, rather than as a layered element.
Curtain walls can be placed into the project using the Wall tool. This project already has walls in position where the design requires curtain walls, so these existing walls can be selected and then converted into curtain walls.
First, the Split tool is used to break the right wall into 2 walls. Only the upper portion of this wall will be turned into curtain wall. After a 3D view is opened, the 2 walls that are to become curtain walls are selected. Then, in the Type Selector on the Properties palette, a curtain wall type is selected and the walls are changed to that type.
As it happens, the grid pattern used for the selected curtain wall type is not what is needed for the design intent. So, with the curtain walls still selected, the Edit Type button is clicked on the Properties palette. The spacing for the vertical and horizontal grid patterns is then changed to match the design.
